The starting
point
A retired racket isn't rubbish: it's a shape nobody looks at any more.
· The challenge
Sports gear that goes out of play ends up in a storage room or a skip, and a silhouette anyone recognises from a distance goes with it. The brief was to prove, with images rather than argument, that the object can hold a second life as a piece of furniture: that it can carry a trophy, organise an entire wall and sit in a living room without looking like a clubhouse craft project.
· How we tackled it
We treated the art direction as a collection: a short palette of court green, wood and metal, hard natural light so the shadows draw the pattern of the strings, and one fixed rule, every racket does a real job. Out of that come the individual shelves, the panel that gathers nine pieces into a single display, and the domestic variant with a rope net. All shot in situ, so it reads as product rather than concept.
Upcycling convinces when the result stands up without explanation.
